Graph Paper GP is the pencil-and-paper racetrack game, played as a puzzle. Your car sits on a grid dot and keeps its velocity from turn to turn. Each turn you may change it by at most one step across and one up or down, giving nine possible landing dots. The middle dot keeps your current speed. Tap a dot, use the on-screen pad, or press Q W E, A S D and Z X C.

The car travels in a straight line to the chosen dot. If that line touches a hatched wall, you crash; dots that would crash are drawn in red. Cross the numbered checkpoint lines in order, then the checkered finish line, no later than the grey rival car, which drives a fixed, legal line. Stop on an oil patch and you have no grip next turn, so you coast. Finishing on par, the fewest turns possible, earns three stars, and one turn over earns two.

Sixty tracks, loops and sprints, run across five tiers from Karting to Championship, plus a daily track. Undo takes back a move. The hint lights up the next move on a fastest line from where you are, and caps that track at two stars.

Worked example

You are moving right at three squares a turn, and the corner is six squares ahead. Brake now and you cover two, then one, and crawl the rest. Speed up to four and even full braking carries you past the corner. Hold three for one turn, then brake to two and one, and you reach the corner exactly, slow enough to turn.

Strategy tips

Brake earlier than feels natural. Speed drops by one a turn at most, so a fast straight needs its braking planned several turns ahead.

Turn while you slow. Each move changes both directions at once, so you can start bending into a corner during the braking turns.

Keep off oil before corners. A forced coast at the wrong moment ends in the wall.
