Manor Mystery is a murder mystery logic puzzle set on a floor plan. Someone has been murdered in the manor, and you know who was there but not where they stood. Tap a person in the tray and then a square, or drag them onto the plan; tap the tray to take someone off again. People can stand on floor, chairs and windows, while other furniture blocks a square. Beside means sharing a side, and north is up.

Clues tick green when they are true and red when they are broken. One standing rule sits at the top of the list: the victim's room holds exactly one other person, and that person is the killer. Only one arrangement makes every clue true. Place everyone, including the victim, with every clue green, and the killer is revealed.

Sixty cases run across five tiers, from Constable to Master Sleuth, with more people, rooms and clues as you go, and there is a daily case. Undo steps back. Solving with no hints earns three stars and with one hint two. A hint moves a misplaced person, or places the next one the clues pin down, and says which clues did it.

Worked example

A clue says the victim sat on a chair in the Study. Another says the Maid and the Gardener were in the same room. They cannot both be in the Study, because the standing rule allows only one other person there, so their room is somewhere else. A clue that someone had a room all to themself rules that person out of the Study too, since the victim is already in it.

Strategy tips

Start with fixed places. Clues naming a room, a chair or a window leave the fewest squares.

Beside crosses room borders. Two people side by side can stand in different rooms if their squares meet at a room border.

Count heads. Clues about how many people a room held often settle who goes where.
