Penguin Slide is an ice sliding puzzle. The penguin cannot walk; each move sends it sliding until something stops it. Rocks, blocks and the edge of the rink stop it on the square before them. Snow stops it on the snow itself. Slide into a hole and the penguin falls in. Move with the arrow keys, WASD, a swipe or the on-screen pad.

To win, the penguin must stop exactly on the fish; sliding over it does not count. Walk into an ice block beside you to push it, and the penguin stays put while the block slides until a rock, another block, snow or the fish stops it. A block that slides into a hole fills it, and the hole becomes ice you can cross. Pushing a block where you need it is how you build the stoppers the rink is missing.

Par is the fewest moves; a bump into something that goes nowhere is free. Matching par earns three stars, and up to two moves over earns two. Undo is free. The game tells you when a position can no longer be won. The hint shows the next move on a shortest route and caps the level at two stars. Sixty rinks run from First Glides to Glacier, with a daily rink.

Worked example

Snow lies directly above the fish. Slide up from below and you stop on the snow, one square too far. Push a block up onto that snow instead: blocks stop on snow too, so it now sits just past the fish. Slide up again, and the block halts you exactly on the fish.

Strategy tips

Plan the last slide. Ask which direction you could arrive at the fish from, and what would stop you there.

Blocks are stoppers. A block parked in the right square matters more than any clever route.

Mind the holes. Fill a hole with a block before sliding across its line.
