Pitch & Pine is a tent-placement puzzle. Every pine in the clearing needs exactly one tent of its own, standing directly beside it: above, below, left or right, never diagonally. The numbers along the top and the side say how many tents belong in each column and each row.
One more rule makes it interesting: tents never touch each other, not even at a corner. So around every tent, all eight neighbouring squares must be free of other tents.
Worked example
Begin with the zeros. A row or column marked 0 holds no tents, so every empty square in it can be marked as grass straight away. Next, any square that is not beside a pine can never hold a tent, so it is grass too. Those two steps alone usually clear much of the board.
Now look for pines with only one open neighbour left. That neighbour must take the tent. Place it, then mark all eight squares around the new tent as grass, since no other tent may touch it. Check the row and column counts as you go: once a row has all of its tents, the rest of that row is grass.
Strategy tips
Grass is progress. Every square you rule out narrows the choices for the tents that remain. Tap once for grass, or pick Grass mode and drag to paint a whole run.
Match counts to space. If a row needs three tents and has exactly three places where tents can go without touching, all three are forced.
Pair every pine. Each tent belongs to one pine only. Two pines that share their only open neighbour cannot both be served by it, so one of them must look elsewhere.
Hints and stars. You have three hints per clearing. A hint first takes down a tent in the wrong place, and only then pitches a correct one. Finish with no hints and no touching tents for three stars.
