Vault Cracker is a code breaking logic puzzle. A safe holds a secret code of symbols: stars, moons, suns, clovers, gems and more. You see earlier failed attempts, each with feedback. A green dot means a right symbol in the right slot, and a gold ring means a right symbol in the wrong slot. Exactly one code fits every line, and your job is to deduce it.
Tap a slot, then a symbol on the pad, or use keys 1 to 7 and Enter. You have three tries: open the vault on the first for three stars, the second for two, the third for one. A wrong try joins the list with honest feedback, and a third wrong code sets off the alarm. The notepad has a row for each symbol and a column for each slot; tap once to cross a symbol out of a slot and again to circle it.
Sixty vaults run across five tiers, from Piggy Bank to Grand Vault, and there is a daily vault. Codes grow from three slots to five, and later tiers allow repeated symbols. From Bank Vault on, exactly one of the attempts is a lie. The hint applies one deduction to your notepad, explains it, and caps the vault at two stars.
Worked example
A Piggy Bank code uses three different symbols out of five. Line 1, star moon sun, shows one gold ring, so exactly one of those three is in the code. The code therefore needs both clover and gem. Line 2, clover sun gem, shows two gold rings. Those are clover and gem, both misplaced, so sun is out, clover is not in slot 1 and gem is not in slot 3. Only four codes remain.
Strategy tips
Count symbols first. Add up dots and rings to learn how many of a line's symbols belong.
Find the lie. If two lines cannot both be true, the lie is one of them and every other line is honest.
